Most Sharks fans have been calling for a few modifications to the current lineup, and the Sharks finally responded, moving some players around in preparation for Florida. First, Hertl and Nieto are changing places as Hertl moves up to the top line with Thornton and Pavelski and Nieto moves down to the third with Sheppard and Kennedy.
It's a shame to break up that third line but I don't think Hertl was the driving player their, so Nieto's speed and playmaking may complement Sheppard and Kennedy nicely. Hertl had a poor start to the season but is getting back on track. He was moved to the 4th line briefly but has played well enough to earn another shot with Jumbo. Shifting to defense, Vlasic and Braun were finally split up. Vlasic is now paired with Burns and Braun with Mueller. I've been wanting to see this all year long; give Burns a defensively responsible partner (Mueller's still young) so he can jump into the play more and give Mueller a defensively responsible partner so things don't backfire when, as all young defensemen do, he makes a costly mistake.
On another note, Demers just hasn't seemed to put it together this year for whatever reason, his spot is safe as the third pairing RHD, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was traded at some point in the future. Taylor Fedun may give him a run for his money next training camp.
